SAN FRANCISCO, March 8, 2022 - Barg Coffin Lewis & Trapp, LLP is pleased to announce that Julia Graeser Mata has been elevated to partner effective January 1, 2022.

“I’m thrilled to join the ranks of Barg Coffin’s incredibly talented partners, and I look forward to having a greater role in shaping the firm’s bright future,” said Mata.

“Julia is an experienced and highly capable attorney who has been representing clients at the partner level for some time. This announcement makes it official, and recognizes Julia’s contributions to her clients and the firm,” said R. Morgan Gilhuly, managing partner of Barg Coffin.

Mata’s practice focuses on environmental litigation and compliance counseling under both federal and state statutes. While she loves litigating on behalf of clients, Mata especially enjoys collaborating with clients to solve environmental problems they face in their business operations and dealings. Her clients include energy companies, transportation companies, property owners, and manufacturers and distributors of consumer and industrial products. Mata was recognized by Super Lawyers® as a Northern California “Rising Star” in 2020 and 2021.

Mata is committed to service in the legal community and beyond. She has served on the Board of the Environmental Land Use and Real Estate Section of the Barristers Club within the Bar Association of San Francisco, represented multiple pro bono clients through the Justice and Diversity Center and Federal Pro Bono Project, and served as President of a local non-profit organization.

Mata is a graduate of the University of California, Hastings College of Law (J.D. cum laude, 2013) and Indiana University (B.A. 2009). During her time at U.C. Hastings, Mata served as the notes and comments editor for West-Northwest Journal of Environmental Law and Policy, competed and won awards in international negotiation and mediation competitions, and was a member of the Pro Bono Honors Society.
