SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 9, 2016 – Barg Coffin Lewis & Trapp, LLP attorney David M. Metres has been elected vice chair of the executive committee of the Bar Association of San Francisco’s (BASF) Environmental Law Section for 2017. Metres has previously served as both treasurer and secretary, and has been a member of the executive committee since 2011.

BASF Environmental Law Section’s mission is to serve and educate both attorneys and the general public about environmental law, primarily through presenting substantive MCLE programs.

“Our firm has long supported BASF’s  educational mission, and we are honored that Dave continues to be a part of the environmental law section’s leadership team,” said R. Morgan Gilhuly, managing partner of Barg Coffin.

Metres’s practice focuses on environmental litigation and compliance. He counsels and represents clients in matters arising under state and federal laws, including the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), the Clean Water Act, the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and the federal and California Endangered Species Acts.

In both 2016 and 2015, Metres was named a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers and featured in San Francisco magazine. In 2014, he received the State Bar of California Real Property Law Section’s “Morning Star” award. He is a graduate of the University of California, Hastings College of the Law (J.D., 2010) and Northwestern University (B.A., 2002).
